Mud Party @ Full Force 2011

Back from a cold and stormy weekend at With Full Force Germany. Couldn`t believe how nasty it can get in the midst of july in central europe.

Besides the weather i did the dayshift on monitors for the hardbowl stage (which is in a huge tent = mostly dry). This time i fell in love with the Yamaha M7CL 48, its a great digital desk for this size of stages. The I-pad remote also helped me a lot this time, especially pulling frequencies is great with the app.
The job itself was not that challenging, but still you got to be fast and precise since changeovers are only 15 minutes. I mostly did classic rock bands, never had to mix one single keyboard nor triggers or in-ears which made the days very relaxing and the shows absolutely enjoyable.

To me, winners of the weekend were Earth Crisis. Seemed to be more interesting to bands and crew members - i think we had more than 50 visitors on stage - than to the audience, but the band really killed it show-wise.
Also Madball, Watain and Blood For Blood kicked asses. Watch the videos in my other posts to get an impression!

Birthday Gala @ Intercontinental Berlin

I got booked again by Schalldruck Audio (this time the berlin dependance) for doing monitors at a private birtday party in berlin. I was mainly babysitting the system as the special guest “Thomas Anders and Band” had their own engineers. Yet i had to deal with the Top40 band “Koda” which more or less hosted the whole evening. They were a pain in the ass to handle, even though their showgirls looked quite nice. Technically i used a yamaha m7, some sennheiser In-ear systems, martin audio le12 wedges. I found the m7 ipad remote not that useful in comparison to the yamaha ls9 ipad combination (which really enhances the desk), but mainly cause the m7 offers a better handling in general. Still the ipad remote is a great idea. I attached some pictures below.

On top of that i met some good friends the day after and hung out in berlin which really made the weekend a blast!

Monitor booth for this weekend’s job. Yamaha M7 CL 48, several sennheiser in-ear systems and wireless mics.

WGT 2011 & “The Sounds” @ Leipzig

I was hired by Schalldruck Audio for a 4-day engagement at the famous WaveGotikTreffen in Leipzig. You can watch some footage in my other posts.
I worked on monitors with a yamaha ls-9 which i pretty much like and prefer over other desks for these sorts of jobs. Especially the ipad remote allows you to keep control over all the details and makes working on it way easier than with the built-in miniscreen.
Amongst various other bands and artists i did in-ears and monitors for “The Damned” and “Misfits”. Both were old and deaf but very pleased in the end.

The weekend concluded with a show of “The Sounds” at leipzig’s conne island. Again a yamaha ls-9 32, this time their own, on which the bandmembers did their own in-ear mixes. Smart solution for the overall sound on and off stage.

Next up, Thomas Anders and band this weekend!
